Christ Church CE Primary School

Inclusion Quality Mark

We are incredibly proud to announce that, following our Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) assessment, Christ Church CE Primary School is officially an IQM Centre of Excellence! During our assessment in September 2025, the assessor praised our "demonstrable strengths in inclusive practice", our "leadership capacity" and the "tangible culture of inclusion" that runs cohesively across the whole school. Achieving Centre of Excellence status reflects not only our commitment to our own pupils and families, but also our active involvement in educational networks, which allows our leaders to "develop and grow inclusive practice in other settings".

 What is Educational Inclusion?

Educational inclusion is about equal opportunities for all pupils, whatever their age, gender, ethnicity, attainment and background. It pays particular attention to the provision made for, and the achievement of, different groups of pupils within a school. An educationally inclusive school is one in which the teaching and learning, achievements, attitudes and well-being of every young person matters.

Effective schools are educationally inclusive schools. This shows not only in their performance but also in their ethos and their willingness to offer new opportunities to pupils who may have experienced previous difficulties. This does not mean treating all pupils in the same way; rather, it involves taking account of pupils’ varied life experiences and needs.

What is IQM and Centre of Excellence?

The Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) is a standard for assessing schools against a nationally recognised framework on inclusion. It is designed to create a dialogue about inclusion with objective and supportive evaluation by the IQM team.

As a Centre of Excellence, we have been recognised as a school that goes a step further than the standard Inclusive School Award. It means we not only deliver outstanding inclusive education internally, but we are also committed to sharing our successful practices, outreach, and collaborative models for further growth with the wider educational community.
